2018 goal inspo!

Happy [belated] New Years, everyone!
I always get so excited when it's the New Years because a lot of people are setting goals and resolutions and I'm just looking at them from across the table like:

One of my personal goals for this year is to write monthly journals to motivate, inspire, or at least get some ideas out there that I think will be useful.
For my first journal, I'm going to give a list of goals you can set for yourself that are related to art/writing.
You can use these as inspiration for other goals if you don't like any of them, and you can set goals any time of the year. Remember that.
1.) Learn to draw something you aren't used to drawing
[Ex., animals, backgrounds, dynamic poses, etc.]
2.) Make one drawing every month where you try finding a new technique/media/style to use and make it purposefully ugly.
It's a good way of testing out new ways to draw things without the pressure of making it look good.
3.) Learn to finish drawings,even if especially if you don't like how they're coming along.
It's better to be able to point at a thousand completed drawings and say "I dislike this because ___" than to have nothing to point at in the first place.
4.) Open commissions, art trades, etc. if you haven't already and you're able to.
5.) 6.) Fill a page with sketches within a time frame that works for you, and one that you will stick to.
For example, not many people will want to fill a page every day right off the bat. Maybe fill a page every week and then change that to every three days, and so on.

If you like a piece of writing, try finding out what the author did and why that works.
2.) Form the habit of being critical of everything you read, because there's always room for improvement.
News articles are a good place to practice this because new ones are being written daily.
3.) Try filling a notebook with one theme written in various forms/genres/tones by the end of the year.
4.) Write in forms/genres/tones that you aren't comfortable with more often.
Maybe dedicate each month to a different form/genre/tone?
5.) Another obvious one, but journaling and writing daily is a good habit to develop.

2.) Learn how to use constructive criticism in a way that will benefit you.
3.) The more you fail, the less you fear. Fail big!
4.) Don't give up. Not that you were planning to anyway, eh? :^P

They can range anywhere from study tips, advice about staying motivated, and so on!
